Our Commitment to Empowerment

Out & Unbound is reclaiming freedom for LGBTQ+ people rebuilding their lives after prison. We offer:

Housing support; that affirms identity and safety

Employment pathways; that open real doors

Education access; that empowers and equips

Community reentry; rooted in dignity and belonging

Advocacy; that refuses to leave anyone behind

We walk beside those too often forgotten because justice means more than release. It means belonging, visibility, and the power to shape your own future.

Why We Exist

Out & Unbound was born from lived observation and quiet resistance.

Founder Ady Maylam saw firsthand how people leaving prison especially LGBT+ individuals were met with silence, stigma, and scarcity. No safety net. No welcome. Often, not even a change of clothes.

Before Out & Unbound had a name, Ady was already working behind the scenes:

Securing emergency housing

Connecting people to job opportunities

Gathering donations clothing, furniture, essentials for those starting over with nothing

This work began as an act of care. It became a call to action.

Today, Out & Unbound is a movement-driven CIC reclaiming justice through radical support, unapologetic advocacy, and identity-affirming reentry. We believe no one should be punished twice for who they are, or where they’ve been.

Ady Maylam

Ady Maylam is the visionary behind Out & Unbound a movement rooted in radical care, unapologetic advocacy, and the belief that no one should be left behind.

With a career devoted to public service, Ady has worked alongside society’s most marginalized communities, championing equality, diversity, and inclusion not as buzzwords, but as daily practice. His work has always centered those pushed to the edges because justice, to him, means showing up where others won’t.

“I started Out & Unbound because I was tired of watching people walk out of prison into silence. No support. No dignity. No welcome. I wanted to build something that says: You belong. You matter. You’re not alone.”  Ady Maylam

Ady lives in Hastings with his partner Robbie and their beloved pack of small dogs:

🐾 Dot Dot, Belle, and Harry (Chihuahuas)

🐾 Georgie, a Mexican Hairless with big personality and zero shame

A self-taught small dog expert and seaside wanderer, Ady finds joy in the kind of moments that build worlds: community work that heals, coastal and country walks that clear the mind, and time with his nieces and nephews who know him as the one who always turns up, treats in hand and laughter never far behind.
